Colleen LaBelle was presented the 2017 Betty Ford Award from the Association for Medical Education and Research in Substance Abuse (AMERSA) at the organization’s annual conference held November 2-4.
The Betty Ford Award is given annually to an individual who has made significant impact on the field of substance use disorders, particularly with regard to women’s issues, addiction education, and recovery. AMERSA recognized Colleen LaBelle’s extensive commitment and contributions as a clinician, researcher, and leader in evidence-based addiction treatment, especially through her work innovating, expanding, and advocating for nurse care management of substance use disorders and the integration of addiction services into primary care.
The Association for Medical Education and Research in Substance Abuse is a non-profit professional organization whose mission is to improve health and well-being through interdisciplinary leadership in substance use education, research, clinical care and policy.
