Advancing Addiction Treatment: Building Knowledge of Substance Use and Specialty Topics is a comprehensive training series aimed at advancing addiction treatment among health care professionals. This series consists of trainings covering 18+ topics. You can attend all sessions or select specific ones. Foundational topics in this series include an introduction to substance use disorders (SUDs) and stigma, screening for SUDs, motivational interviewing, harm reduction, and medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD). Clinically focused sessions will review alcohol, benzodiazepine, and stimulant use disorders, in addition to MOUD implementation strategies, co-occurring disorders, and medical considerations for persons using substances. Population-specific trainings will discuss SUD as it relates to adolescents and young adults, older adults, peripartum persons, and those with a brain injury. Specialty topics include cannabis, criminal-legal involvement, overdose education and naloxone distribution, pain management, lab testing/toxicology screening, and regulatory issues relating to MOUD.
