This training will provide a high-level overview of the basics of motivational interviewing (MI).
This training satisfies 0.50 hours of the required 8 hours of training for DEA-registered practitioners. The Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act was included in the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023. The MATE Act requires increased training for Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)-registered physicians and practitioners—specifically, a one-time eight-hour training requirement on treating and managing patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.
Medical professionals with prescriptive authority, nurses and support staff who support them looking to increase provision of care for patients with substance use disorder.
Lee Ellenberg, LICSW, MINT
Lee Ellenberg was the Training Manager for the Massachusetts Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment Training (SBIRT) and Technical Assistance Program from 2014-2021. He has conducted SBIRT and motivational interviewing trainings for a broad range of health and human service providers since 2007. He has been a training consultant with YouthBuildUSA since 2014. In 2016, Lee became a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers. From 2003-2017, Lee was a senior faculty member at Cambridge College, where he developed and delivered coursework for the college’s undergraduate-level Human Services program. Lee has also worked as an HIV social work manager at Cambridge Health Alliance and was the associate director of mental health and addiction services at Fenway Health in Boston, MA. He has provided psychotherapy in a private practice for over fifteen years.
