Boston Medical Center's (BMC) drop-in series Substance Use Disorder Care Continuum ECHO® (SUD Care Continuum ECHO®) offers training and support in addiction treatment, with a focus on supporting front line addiction treatment workforce. This includes health providers in Acute Treatment Services (ATS), Crisis Stabilization Services (CSS), Transitional Support Services (TSS), Opioid Treatment Programs (OTP), long-term residential program, sober and recovery homes, primary care, and psychiatry. This free, case-based tele-mentoring program is designed to increase the capacity of health care providers to implement high-quality and evidence-based addiction treatment.
Intended audience
Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN), Physicians (MD/DO), Physician Assistants (PA), Nurses (LPN/RN), Social Workers (LCSW/LICSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHC), Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselors (LADC), Certified Alcohol/Drug Counselors (CADC), Community Health Workers (CHW), Recovery Coaches.
Speakers
Matthew Heerema, MS, LMHC (he/him)Matt is a Clinical Research Coordinator for Boston Medical Center's Grayken Center for Addiction Training and Technical Assistance, prepares and implements research studies, and coordinates Grayken TTA's MA and SUD ECHO® programs and Empowering Loved Ones educational group. Matt earned a bachelor’s in sociology from Boston University and a master’s in mental health counseling from the University of Massachusetts-Boston.

- Understand the core factors that contribute to positive behavioral health treatment outcomes.
- Describe how healthcare providers in a variety of clinical roles and settings can benefit from understanding these factors.

Alicia received her master's in community public health from New York University and has published on numerous topics, including reproductive health, HIV, alcohol, and drug use, and family members impacted by substance use.

Daniel Rodrigues, LICSW, PMH-CDaniel Rodrigues is the Director of Substance Use Disorder and Outreach Programs at Duffy Health Center located in Hyannis. Daniel’s background is as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, graduating from Smith School for Social Work in 2013. Daniel has worked in the field of substance use disorders and mental health since graduation, having worked in inpatient co-occurring treatment, outpatient residential, and hospital based Social Work on Maternity and Pediatrics, before transitioning to his current role at Duffy Health Center. In his role at Duffy, Daniel provides clinical oversight for all of the health center’s substance use disorder services, and outreach programs, as well as the center's winter weather response program.

- Identify three potential causes of homelessness.
- Recognize considerations specific to providing care to people experiencing homelessness with substance use disorders.
- Describe three stragegies for medication management for persons experiencing homelessness with an opioid use disorder.

Gabriel Quaglia, CHWGabriel Quaglia, CHW is a Direct Service Provider Program Coordinator at Support After a Death by Overdose (SADOD). As a A certified community health worker, Gabriel worked since 2016 in service delivery, program development, and training for harm reduction, SUD treatment programs, and peer grief support. As a person in long term recovery, Gabriel has worked for over twelve years in advocacy and direct action with people who use drugs and people experiencing homelessness as well as labor organizing. Currently they are working for SADOD delivering groups for direct service providers (DSP) experiencing grief and loss as well as offering training and technical assistance relevant to DSP support.
Jill Shanahan (she/her)Jill Shanahan (she/her) spent many years in harm reduction working in drop in centers & needle exchange programs. She is currently a facilitator and educator working for Support After Death by Overdose (SADOD), helping build peer grief support for workers in the overdose crisis throughout MA. Jill is a member of the MA Harm Reduction Advisory Council and has a BA in Sociology from Umass Dartmouth. She has completed a 300hr YTT and is a Reiki Master. She is forever grateful to those who came before us in peer led movements such as harm reduction and peer grief work. She also deeply acknowledges the many forms of teachers she has been gifted on this journey.

- Understand the increase in and the potential sources of grief for service providers.
- Describe the potential ways grief cna manifest.
- Utilize techniques to help process gand deal with grief individually and collectively.

The didactic will be followed by a de-identified patient case presentation from an ECHO® participant and recommendations from the panel of experts and attendees. All disciplines are welcome.

Description
Boston Medical Center's (BMC) drop-in series Substance Use Disorder Care Continuum ECHO® (SUD Care Continuum ECHO®) offers training and support in addiction treatment, with a focus on supporting front line addiction treatment workforce. This includes health providers in Acute Treatment Services (ATS), Crisis Stabilization Services (CSS), Transitional Support Services (TSS), Opioid Treatment Programs (OTP), long-term residential program, sober and recovery homes, primary care, and psychiatry. This free, case-based tele-mentoring program is designed to increase the capacity of health care providers to implement high-quality and evidence-based addiction treatment.

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN), Physicians (MD/DO), Physician Assistants (PA), Nurses (LPN/RN), Social Workers (LCSW/LICSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHC), Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselors (LADC), Certified Alcohol/Drug Counselors (CADC), Community Health Workers (CHW), Recovery Coaches.

Gilmar Rodriguez, LADC-I, LICSW, MA PGSGlimar "Glee" Rodriguez Parrilla is a Licensed Substance Use Clinician with over a decade of experience in SUD counseling prior to becoming Clinical Social Worker . Glee has specialized in the last 15 years in supporting individuals with co-occurring disorders across various presentations and clinical settings. Glee holds a Master of Social Work from Simmons University, where she received advanced training in medical social work and addiction medicine. In recent years, she has focused on gambling addiction and contributed to capacity-building initiatives for behavioral health professionals in the Commonwealth. Her work emphasizes bridging gaps in care and supporting individuals facing addiction challenges.
Objectives
Following this training, participants will have the knowledge to:
- Understand the prevalence of problematic gambling.
- Recognize clinical characteristics of patients with gambling use disorder.
- Describe interentions for treating gambling use disorder.
