Description

This training will cover navigating social service agencies with persons with substance use disorder who are pregnant or parenting. Topics include mandated reporting requirements and coordination with social service agencies for at-risk families.

Intended audience

Medical providers, nurses, social workers, Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselors (LADC), Certified Alcohol/Drug Counselors (CADC), Community Health Workers (CHW), recovery coaches, counselors, Licensed Mental health Counselors (LMHC), and members of the community.

Speakers

Caitlin Clark, MSW, LICSW

Caitlin is a clinical social worker and program manager of Project RESPECT at Boston Medical Center. Caitlin has expertise in delivering harm-reductive, family-centered, gender-specific care to birthing and parenting people with substance use disorder, utilizing evidence-based approaches for treating PTSD and other co-occurring mental health diagnoses as part of a multidisciplinary team. Caitlin has extensive experience working within the child welfare system and knowledge of the federal, state, and local policies that impact families in recovery.

Objectives

• Recognize the importance of coordinating with social services for families at risk.
• Recall strategies to collaborate with DCF.
• Recognize the role of mandated reporters to identify families at risk.

REQUIREMENTS for credit

1. Register for training.

4. Be present through the end of the activity (i.e. until the designated end time of training).
5. Complete evaluation within 2 weeks of program completion.

Please note this policy is strictly enforced for accreditation purposes. Participants will forfeit collection of credit and certificates of completion if more than 10 minutes of the training is missed.

BMC Grayken Center of Addiction TTA has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7188. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified.
