Certified Addiction Registered Nurse (CARN) Exam Review for RNs/NPs - IntNSA Pre-Conference

This full-day course reviews topics covered in the certification exam for addictions nursing and is intended to support nurses preparing to sit for the exam.

Description

Boston Medical Center is sponsoring an exam review course for RNs and NPs working in the addiction field who have an interest in becoming a Certified Addictions Registered Nurse (CARN) or a Certified Addictions Registered Nurse - Advanced Practice (CARN-AP). The certification exam is open to nurses with at least 2,000 hours experience (equivalent to 1 year full-time) in addiction treatment, and is offered year round at testing sites nationwide. This course is intended to assist nurses in preparing for the exam.

Nurses and Nurse Practitioners attending the IntNSA Conference.

Objectives

By the end of this certification review program, participants will be able to: Identify the major categories of substances of abuse, their neurobiology, impact, withdrawal effects, and treatments, Discuss the biological, psychosocial, cognitive, and spiritual problems resulting from substance abuse and dependence, Apply nursing process in identifying, planning, assessing and implementing care for patients diagnosed with substance use and addiction disorders.
