As part of the twice-monthly MA OBAT ECHO® series, Emily Hurstak, MD, MPH, MAS, will review the prevalence and types of pain syndromes among patients with opioid use disorder; describe how living with chronic pain impacts recovery outcomes, including risk for relapse and overdose; and discuss options for integrated treatment of pain in substance use disorder treatment settings. The didactic will be followed by a de-identified patient case presentation from an ECHO® participant and recommendations from the panel of experts and attendees.

This training is designed to provide an introductory overview of alcohol use disorders. We will explore the latest epidemiological data, with a focus on the prevalence and trends of alcohol use and alcohol use disorders in the United States. Diagnostic criteria and screening tools to assess for alcohol use disorders will be discussed. Additionally, we will examine evidence-based interventions to treat alcohol use disorders and support individuals in their recovery.
