As part of the twice-monthly SUD Care Continuum ECHO® series, Judith Austin, PMHNP, CARN-AP, will strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration in the assessment and treatment of psychiatric conditions among people with co-occurring substance use disorders, and identify common psychiatric disorders and clinical presentations encountered in people with substance use disorders. She will also apply evidence-informed principles for initiating, monitoring, and educating patients about commonly prescribed psychiatric medications in the context of substance use disorders. The didactic will be followed by a de-identified patient case presentation from an ECHO® participant and recommendations from the panel of experts and attendees.

He will also apply evidence-informed strategies for screening, assessment, treatment, and referral for patients with alcohol-related liver disease. This training provides healthcare providers with advanced knowledge and practical skills to deliver high-quality, patient-centered treatment plans for individuals on buprenorphine for opioid use disorder (OUD). Participants will enhance their confidence in buprenorphine initiation through real-world case studies, exploring low-barrier models of care to improve access for individuals with OUD and strategies to reduce the risk of precipitated withdrawal.

As part of the twice-monthly SUD Care Continuum ECHO® series, Julia Calandra, PharmD, BCACP, will develop interdisciplinary models of low-barrier hepatitis C care that improve coordination between addiction treatment, medical, and harm reduction services and describe principles of low-barrier, person-centered hepatitis C care and their role in reducing disparities among people who use substances. She will also apply practical strategies for integrating hepatitis C screening and treatment into addiction medicine and harm reduction settings, including models such as group care. The didactic will be followed by a de-identified patient case presentation from an ECHO® participant and recommendations from the panel of experts and attendees.

As part of the twice-monthly SUD Care Continuum ECHO® series, Roger Weiss, MD, will develop interdisciplinary approaches to shared decision-making and care coordination when patients consider tapering or discontinuing medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD), and describe current evidence, risks, and clinical considerations related to continuing, tapering, or discontinuing MOUD. He will also apply patient-centered, evidence-informed strategies to support patients who choose to taper or discontinue MOUD, including risk mitigation and ongoing follow-up. The didactic will be followed by a de-identified patient case presentation from an ECHO® participant and recommendations from the panel of experts and attendees.
